The proposed project consists of replacing the existing 100,000 gallon redwood storage tank with one 527,000 gallon welded steel storage tank an 8’ wide maintenance access path around the tank, two retaining walls, drainage improvements and utility upgrades.
Why is French broom such a big issue in the Sandhills/Olympia watershed?
The Olympia Watershed, within the sensitive Sandhills habitat, continues to suffer from long- term impacts of the invasive and fast-growing French Broom plant. It is estimated that there
are over 19,000 mature French Broom plants occupying approximately 40 acres of District-owned watershed property.
On March 9, 2017, the State Wildlife Conservation Board awarded a $330,000 grant to the Water Resources Program of the County of Santa Cruz and San Lorenzo Valley Water District to develop a conjunctive water use plan that will lead to more reliable water supply in the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin and improved habitat for steelhead trout in the San Lorenzo River Watershed.
The San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) today announced its Board of Directors has authorized emergency funding to repair storm- related damage to the access road that reaches the Lyon Surface Water Treatment Plant.
