EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

In Case of an EMERGENCY Dial 911

An EMERGENCY between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., or on the weekend, can be reported to our answering service at (831) 338-2153.

The answering service will relay your needs to our on-call person.

Being prepared in the event of an emergency is the best thing you can do for you and your family. If an earthquake, winter storm or other disaster were to strike our community, there may not be any access to food, water and electricity for days or sometimes weeks. Take some time now to stock up on canned food, supplies and water for everyone in your home. Be sure to have flashlights, extra batteries, portable radio, blankets and warm clothing.

Having enough water is top priority in an emergency. A normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water each day. In hot environments that amount can double. Children, nursing mothers and the ill will need even more. You will also need water for personal hygiene. Store at least 1 gallon of water per person, per day. You should have at least a two week supply for each member of the family.

Remember if your water supply runs low, never ration water. Drink the amount you need today, and try to find water for tomorrow. You can reduce the amount of water your body needs by reducing activity and staying cool.

There is more information avaiable on how to best prepare yourself and your family for a disaster on the RED CROSS and Federal Emergency Management "FEMA" web sites please use the links below for additional information in this area.
